If Hardcore wasn’t enough for you, the director of the film recommends works on which you can learn drama, create characters, work with actors and search for original ideas.

  1. The Suspects (Brian Singer, 1995)

This film is an example of the strongest script, which, in my opinion, is no worse than in Casablanca. The picture was released more than twenty years ago, and since then its main script feature has been played countless times. In the noir genre, this film is the best there is.

  1. The Tenenbaum Family (Wes Anderson, 2001)

An example of how to create heroes. Here, each character is thought out in detail, bright, colorful, juicy. And besides, it is one of the best films in terms of scenery.

  1. “Pulp Fiction” (Quentin Tarantino, 1994)

Here, it seems to me, there is no need to explain anything. “Pulp Fiction”, and that says it all.

  1. “District 9” (Neil Blomkamp, 2009)

This is an example of a movie that was made on a fairly small budget, with no famous actors, and with an ad campaign that came up with absolutely nothing. But at the same time, the picture became a real blockbuster, worked in the context of a big summer cinema. This is rare today. And I was very surprised that District 9 did not affect the industry. I thought that after him they would start making films of this kind in large quantities – for $ 30 million without stars, but with a good story. But no, nobody did it, and it seems they didn’t even try. This speaks to the conservatism of the studios.

  1. 12 Angry Men (Sidney Lumet, 1957)

The standard of a conversational film, all of which takes place in one room. But at the same time, they keep you all the screen time. And besides, this is an example of a wonderful, balanced ensemble of actors – there are many great performers, and everyone has the opportunity to show their talent.
